To anyone who has or knows someone struggling with Eczema: I know the struggle, but don’t worry, I’m here to hopefully help! If you’re reading this, you’ve probably seen my Eczema video on YouTube. If you haven’t, I posted a video titled “How I Cured my Eczema” several years ago, It has gained well over 800,000 views (linked below) and I’ve read numerous comments from viewers about how it’s helped them with their own battle with Eczema. I felt the need to make this blog post as a follow up to that video to include details that I might have missed, as well as provide addition information that I’ve gathered and learned since then.

A quick backstory. I've had Eczema since I was 14 and dealt with it for an agonizing number of years. I had it all over my lower legs, down my back, elbows, parts of my face, and around my fingers. I remember the MANY sleepless nights I had due to the constant itching and what it did to my self-esteem. For a long time, I wore long sleeved shirts and pants just to hide my skin, all because I was afraid of what others might think.

For several years, I’ve tried using different ointments prescribed by my doctor which did sometimes help in providing temporary relief but never were there any lasting results. Eventually, I got fed up and gave up on using them. Believe me when I say, I have also tested so many over the counter products that claimed to treat eczema, but upon using each, none of them actually worked. Well, at least for me.

Finally, after doing tons of research and deciding to take the more “natural” route, I discovered a home remedy I wanted to try: drink 1 tablespoon of (unprocessed w/ the “mother”) apple cider vinegar diluted in a glass of water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and applying “unrefined” castor oil to the affected areas of the skin whenever itchy. Although I did see long-lasting results from doing this, I still get the occasional flare-up now and then if I slack on my diet.

Fast-forward to today, I am happy to say I have not had a single MAJOR flare-up for the last 2 years!

One key thing that I didn’t talk about in my original video: avoiding both dairy and processed sugar as much as possible. Back then, I was consuming a lot of ice cream. Go figure! Keep in mind, everyone is different, so results are going to vary from person to person. For you, it might not be dairy or sugar, but seafood that’s causes your skin to react. So, I highly recommend logging everything you eat for at least a couple of weeks to find out what’s causing the inflammation. Your skin is a reaction to what’s going on in your body, so you just need to find the underlying issue in order to get better.

A few other notable things I want to mention that I believe helped with the healing process: I drank tons of water, exactly 2 liters per day; a very effective way to flush out all the toxins in your body. Exercise can also help with this. Something else I did was get rid of all the generic lotions I was using and replace them with 100% Sweet Almond Oil, which I use on both my face and body. It is AMAZING! Inexpensive (~$10) and completely natural! For those of you concerned about it causing a breakout or it leaving your skin looking and feeling oily; well, from my experience, I’ve never had any of those issues. I do have relatively dry skin, so again, you’ll have to try it out yourself to find out. But from my understanding and research, most people have had appreciable results from using Sweet Almond Oil. It’s very thin in consistency, unlike Coconut oil, so it’ll only take a few minutes for your skin to absorb.

Anyways, I wanted to make this post for the same reason why I uploaded my video on YouTube years ago, in hopes that this information will help at least 1 person out there struggling with eczema. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to get back to you. With peace & love, Thao
